A practice tracker for musicians that connects to the instrument via Bluetooth and logs real practice automatically. Active users tripled from 4,300 to 12,900 in six months.
Client: Music practice platform
Industry: Music Education & EdTech
Platforms: iOS, Android
Timeline: 4 months
Team: 5 specialists
Technology: Flutter, Firebase, Bluetooth LE
Our role: Technical leadership and mobile app development
Result: +200% active users in 6 months
4,300 → 12,900 - active users in six months (+200%)
+46% - more practice sessions per week
+38% - more users still practising after 30 days
+29% - longer practice sessions
71% - of users kept a practice streak for over 14 days

Most practice apps for musicians rely on self-reporting. Students log what they meant to practise, not what they actually played. The data is wrong, the feedback is weak, and the app soon becomes one more thing to ignore.
Real consistency needs accountability, and accountability needs objective data.
Manual logging. Users had to remember to record every session.
Inaccurate data. Logged practice didn’t match real practice.
Weak feedback. Without reliable data, progress was impossible to measure.
Fading motivation. Students lost interest when the app didn’t reflect their real effort.

Connected the app to the instrument. The app pairs with a Bluetooth-enabled device on the instrument and detects practice sessions automatically, with no buttons to press.
Counted only real practice. A validation layer filters out background noise, silence and pauses, so only actual playing is recorded.
Built adaptive practice plans. Schedules and reminders adjust to how often each person really practises.
Showed real progress. Streaks, weekly trends, consistency and practice history are clear at a glance.
Rewarded verified effort. Achievements and milestones are earned only through real, detected practice, which makes them meaningful.
Built one app for iOS and Android. A shared Flutter codebase, with Firebase powering reminders, streaks and personalised plans.
Delivered in four months. Our team led the technical approach, working closely with a firmware and Bluetooth specialist.

In the first six months, the app turned practice tracking from a chore into a habit students stick with.

This music practice platform connects a mobile app to a Bluetooth-enabled instrument device to detect, validate and analyse practice sessions automatically. Time2Launch led the technical approach and delivered the platform in four months with a team of five: two mobile developers, a firmware and BLE specialist, a product designer and a project manager who also handled QA.
The app is built with Flutter for iOS and Android, using Bluetooth Low Energy for device connectivity and Firebase for reminders, streaks and personalised practice plans. Key features include automatic session detection, signal validation, adaptive practice plans, performance analytics and gamified achievements.
The project reflects our experience in Flutter app development for connected devices. Building an app that works with Bluetooth hardware? See our cross-platform app development and custom mobile app development.
