A dating app that plans the dates for you. It suggests restaurants and events based on shared interests and turned 35% more matches into real conversations.

Industry: Dating, Lifestyle & Events
Platform: iOS
Team: 6 specialists
Technology: Swift
Result: +35% match-to-conversation conversion
+35% - more matches turned into conversations
+28% - more engagement with date planning

30% less - time spent choosing where to go on a date

Most dating apps stop at the match. After that, couples have to start a conversation, find common ground and decide where to meet, and many connections fade before the first date.
8 Dates set out to change that with a “slow dating” idea: eight shared dates that help a new couple discover what they have in common and spend real time together.
Matches that go nowhere. Couples needed a reason and a plan to move from chat to an actual date.
Choosing where to go. Finding a place both people would enjoy took time and effort.
Talking before meeting. Users wanted to chat and call safely inside the app before meeting in person.
A new business model. The product needed to earn from date experiences, not just subscriptions.

Built profiles around interests. Users choose their interests during sign-up and can update them anytime. Profiles also show places they have visited or want to try.
Suggested dates based on shared interests. The app recommends activities and places a couple would both enjoy, using machine learning to make each suggestion more personal.
Structured the journey around eight dates. Each date helps the couple discover more shared interests and keeps the relationship moving forward.
Connected real restaurants and events. Through OpenTable and Eventbrite, couples see real options with photos, descriptions, ratings, reviews and a map.
Added chat and in-app calls. Couples can talk and call inside the app, and date ideas appear right in the conversation to make planning easy.
Created a new revenue stream. Partner restaurants and events form an affiliate marketplace, so the app earns when couples book experiences.
Delivered the full product. From wireframes and UX/UI design to development, testing and App Store release.
8 Dates turned matching into real experiences, helping couples move from “it’s a match” to an actual date.

8 Dates is an iOS dating app that combines matchmaking with personalised date recommendations and real-world experiences. Time2Launch delivered it with a team of six: two iOS developers, a backend developer, a QA engineer, a project manager and a business analyst.
The app is built in Swift with MVVM architecture. It uses Twilio for in-app calling and integrates OpenTable and Eventbrite for restaurant and event discovery. Machine learning powers interest-based recommendations, and continuous integration runs on GitHub, CircleCI, Docker and AWS.
The project reflects our experience in iOS app development and in building AI-powered mobile apps with third-party integrations. Planning a dating, social or marketplace app? See our mobile app development services.
